Another excellent piece, Umair. Truth hurts. I'm about as white as can be, yet I completely agree with you on this point. It's embarrassing to be white right now, and the more I learn and understand the history of white people in this country, the more ashamed I am. There's hope, however. All of my white friends are democrats, most are progressives, and we're all astounded at what has happened over the last four years, and the years leading up to that horrible outcome in 2016. We need to start figuring out how to fix this. I have no idea how, but, yes, our country is in tatters right now. Keep writing. You are inspiring me in ways you can't imagine. Thank you!
