Apocalypse Now

A poem

Photo by Adelia Ritchie, Sofia, Bulgaria

And the storms came
and the winds blew
and the roofs flew
and the trees snapped
and the flags flapped
and the waves broke
and the houses fell
and the mudslides
brought down hillsides
then the sun shone
and the ground baked
and the trees dried
and the fires burned
and filled the dead air
with dust and smoke
then the birds choked
and the squirrels croaked
and the worms fried
and the earth died.
