Autumn

Autumn is upon us now
with fruits of summer stored away.
The sweat that beads upon my brow
rolls down my face this sunny day.

When blight attacks and mold encrusts,
tomatoes rot and squash leaves gray
and bean pods dry in windy gusts,
I thank the earth for her buffet.
