Fascinating piece. First of all, why TF don't people read labels? Made in China often means "fake goods." And to your other point—why do we prefer cheap—I believe that's because capitalism is out of control. The pendulum seems to be stuck at "wealth accumulation above all else" ... including making us want to buy on the cheap and pay workers a cave-dweller's wage. Meanwhile, stockholders get richer. Thank you for this! It's time for folks to start thinking about what has happened here, and is still happening... possibly even beyond the tipping point.
