So, how do you really feel? LOL! Seriously, I used to live in a golf community in Florida. My yard backed up to the 9th tee, and I kept it natural, with palmettos, scrub oaks, bay trees. My yard was full of birds, including a family of quail. One day I came home from work and all the scrub had been cleared out, for the convenience of duffers whose balls kept getting lost in the brush. 30+ years later I'm still enraged. Thank you for this essay. Now, how can we direct our anger to stop this idiocy? :(
